For some reason, my computer will not run java/applet games such as the Yahoo games anymore. I used to play them all the time, but now they won’t work. They seem to load, and it says done on the bottom, but I just get I white screen with a very small box in the upper left corner with a colored triangle, square, and circle inside it. Also, when I preview webpages, some of the pictures are just displayed as an empty window with a small box with red X inside of it. I’m thinking these may be related situations. Can anybody out there give me any suggestions on how to correct this? Thanks,
Can’t help you, but I’ll be watching this space for help, too.
Though I don’t have the same problems as the OP, (I can view images on other web pages) I can’t play many Yahoo games either; specifically Bookworm, which I happen to be a big fan of.
I had that problem once with WinXP. As I recall, I downloaded Java again and the problem went away.
You may need to reinstall the Java Virtual Machine from the Sun site. Upon trying to find the download link for you, I also came across this in their FAQ…

I guess there are some known issues with some Yahoo! games. BTW, you can also install the JVM from a link on that page.
Hope this helps.
Recent XP updates had to remove the Microsoft Java-clone by court order. They did NOT, though, replace it with anything. Go to Java, and download JVM.
Some links, background:
From Microsoft - why they had to remove it:

From Java - go here to load JVM:

Thank you, thank you very much!
Thank You very much for all the input. It worked! I downloaded the file from Java.com and now it works. Thanks.
