I switched from IE to Firefox a few weeks ago, and now I can’t upload pictures to Photobucket. I get an error messages that says “Upload failed for afghan 010.jpg with error: A network error caused your upload to fail. Please try your upload again.”
Trying again doesn’t help.
Do I have to toggle a setting somewhere to allow these uploads?
Do the uploads still work in IE?
Have they EVER worked in Firefox since you switched?
Can you upload photos to other sites, like maybe tinypic.com?
Are your Internet/proxy options the same between IE and Firefox?
Is it just the up load? Can you view your site and view pictures? Can you get to your account with FF? Got you password stored or do you enter it for each session? Are you just using the site or an FTP app?
You might try Flock if you don’t succeed with PhotoBucket and Firefox. Flock has some fairly dedicated image handling. Screenshot.
May be worth mentioning that I picked up a virus while uploading this screenshot (to Photobucket, using Firefox 3)
Re: IE – this totally effed up my internet connection, which is why I finally went to Firefox – I was told not to use it on this machine anymore. I (surprise surprise) don’t actually understand any of this, but am happy sticking with Firefox and utterly disinclined to touch IE.
I will, however, check my settings at Photobucket and see if there’s something on the site that I need to switch, per what I understand 404 Clue Not Found to have suggested.
The settings 404 Clue Not Found is talking about are local to your machine; these are items controlled by going to “Tools->Options…” You’ll want to make sure that you have JavaScript and Java both enabled on the “Contents” screen. Under “Privacy” you should be accepting cookies from 3rd party sites. The last thing to check for is proxy settings, take a look at the “Advanced” screen and click on the “Network” tab within. Click on the “Settings…” button in the box that says “Configure how Firefox connects to the internet” and make sure that the “No proxy” radio button is selected. If all of these items check out then it should work. On the other hand, if you need to have a proxy (more than likely not) then if it is not set up you would also have issues. I don’t think the proxy settings would be causing your issue with photobucket, but it’s probably worth a look to make sure.
Okay, the only setting I needed to change was to “no proxy,” after which I tried the “new” version of the Photobucket upload again – same error. Since the “old” version still works, though, I don’t see the need to continue to screw around with it.
