Why couldn't we hear the iphone during a zoom call?

Three of us babbling about nothing on a zoom call and one guy says we should hear this great video he has on his iphone so he puts it up near his computer microphone and we hear nothing. He says he has it up as loud as he can. Nada. So I’m wondering if there’s some technical reason that the sound didn’t come through. Something about the frequencies of iphone recordings? Something about the way zoom works? I can’t figure why the thing seemed absolutely silent. WTF? Dopers - any ideas?

Zoom by default tries to eliminate background noise as well as echoes. If for some reason it detected the audio from the iphone as background noise, that might be the reason.

You can enable “original sound” to eliminate some of those helpful features and see if it then comes through.
