Why did/do people consider Friday unlucky?

I know some people thought of Friday as unlucky because Jesus was crucified on a Friday, but I’m drawing a blank elsewhere. Why did or do people consider Friday unlucky?

Never heard of that except when the 13th day of the month falls on a Friday. I think Fridays are great days, last day of the work week.

Here’s what snopes has to say, FWIW: (Despite the title, it’s not just about Friday the 13th, but the whole Friday superstition)

And there I was, thanking God for it every week in my childhood (of course, at the time I assumed ‘He’ looked like either Urkle or Uncle Jesse)

Fridays are great, apparently the ancients thought not.
