Oh, sure, I suppose that could go in GQ but it’s so mundane and pointless that I’m putting it here.
I use the alarm feature on my Iphone (3Gs) to wake me up each morning which it has faithfully done since I’ve owned it. I have the alarm set for 6:00 am weekdays.
This morning the alarm went off. I got up, got dressed (many layers because it’s 37 here this morning) and went for my morning jog. About halfway through my jog as I’m trying to find something on Itunes, I notice it’s only 5:30
Well, nothing to do now but continue with the workout and just enjoy the extra hour I suppose. When I get home, I check the time on the phone which matches the other clocks in the house so no Daylight Saving time mishap has occurred. I check the alarm setting and it clearly says 6:00. Why would my alarm, which is set to go off at 6:00, actually go off at 5:00?
I have to be at work early today so I suppose it’s a good thing but still. WTF?
the timing of this makes me suspect it’s to do with daylight savings adjustment in some way. Did you put it back an hour yourself, then soime software feature has automatically put it back another hour?
It likely has nothing to do with it, but here in Europe, Daylight Savings Time started (or quite possibly ended; I can never remember which is which, and honestly, does it make any actual difference?) on Sunday. But if the time on your iPhone didn’t change, and your alarm time remained the same, I’m having a hard time picturing what could have happened. Huh.
The bug hit Aussie and Kiwi users a few weeks back (an hour late) and Europeans yesterday (an hour early). Unless Apple patch it soon, there’ll be some pissed off North Americans next weekend.
According to Engadget, the bug shows up when using any repeating alarm not set to every day.
had the exact same problem. set my alarm to 6:30, but the alarm went off at 5:30. Clock showed the correct time (530), but alarm showed 6:30. Its a bug.
my iphone is set to ‘every day’ and my ipod (backup in case my iphone is low on battery) is set to not repeat at all… so I missed the bug on two fronts.
Ok, this has nothing to do with the iPhone but apparently the clock in Master Control at the TV station my boyfriend works for decided yesterday was daylight savings. He got a call from someone wanting to know what the hell was going on and how to fix it. I forgot to ask whether it screwed up any shows.
Thank you!!! This happened to me on Monday (alarm set for Mondays and Tuesdays only for 6.30) and Boy From Mars was a) not complementary about being woken at 5.30 (it also woke Baby From Mars who was excited about an hour more of Mama and Dada time) and b) refused to believe I hadn’t made a mistake in setting my alarm, despite me being adamant that I had not.
He’s now apologised for thinking bad things of me all this week…
