You’re all a bunch of bastards.
I had no idea this was being worked on. I loved, loved, loved Wasteland. In my top 3 all time games.(and for those who don’t know it came out in the 80’s, so my ranking covers a lot of freakin’ games)
So I’m taking a break from work and see what the wares ye olde Steam has today. And there it was Wasteland. I clicked on it , hoping there was something new to play in the game. But even better it mentioned Wasteland 2! Yay! I finally get to actually control an entire party again like the good old days, rather than just recruit jackasses, and hope they do what I want.
I thought someone mentioned it on this board at some point.
Then again, maybe I’m confusing it with the board I admin which while not very active anymore dates back to around the time Fallout 2 came out. (The community grew out of Interplay’s Fallout boards.)
In which case, I apologize for not mentioning it here.
And yes, I’m a backer of the kickstarter for this. I remember playing the first when I was 12 or 13. It was full of win. Granted, there are aspects of the gameplay that would be annoying by today’s standards, but it was one of the early games where your decisions in an open world could affect what happens to you in the future. (And not in the Sierra “Hah, you lose the game immediately.” sort of way.)
Granted, you did still have the freedom to ruthlessly slaughter anything that either served no use to you at all or had already served its use, something that is unlikely to apply in the sequel, but the game made a valiant effort at it given the technological limitations of the time.
Since you just learned about it, you don’t need to wait 1.5+ years for it like us Kickstart backers. It should be out in a few months since beta is just around the corner.
When talking of computer games, you need to be careful throwing that term around, bro. I know you were trying to be “old timey” or whatever, but it means a very specific thing, which someone that’s been around since Wasteland really should know.
