Why did they give this $ 10,000 Pyramid contest a do over?

He got close but did not get the actual answer. Why the do over?

Well, because the clue was “Things You Wrap”, and the contestant said “Things you unwrap” or something like that, but as Dick Clark explained, in the interest of time and charity the best thing to do was give him another 12 seconds with a different clue, because it would take too long to determine what was actually said.

I guess that things which are wrapped could (and should) be unwrapped eventually. So he gave a correct answer… and an incorrect one at the same time. On Jeopardy, if you give an answer that’s not the one they’re aiming for, but it’s still correct, they’ll give you the money. It’s only fair.
