Why did you change your username?

I was tired of seeing “Liberal” misused to mean “Authoritarian”.

You too huh?

enolancooper was just too blah.

Enola Straight is a play on words (from the Enola Gay, the B-29 which dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima)…on other boards I frequent, it sometimes took months for those members to make the connection.

Is anyone else reading this thread and remarking to themselves “Hey, so that’s where <random doper name> went! I never knew…”

Never mind. I misunderstood the question. I thought it was “why did you choose your user name?” I haven’t changed mine, so it doesn’t apply to me.

I almost changed mine once because I discovered a patron at a local pub I frequent was also a Doper. We exchanged screen names; then later on when I was at home, I got to thinking I didn’t want this dude going back and reading all my previous posts.

Then I thought to myself “Ah, fuck it. I don’t have anything to hide.”
(I was mainly worried that I may have been talking shit about my fellow patrons at said bar. I didn’t want him going back and telling everybody at the bar I had been talking about their dirty laundry on some message board.
Hey, I never gave any names out.)

The Pygmies were my college rugby club. I was the captain of that team, so I held onto the name for a couple years, but I play for Santa Fe now, so I figured it was time to get a name makeover.

black455 was a subtle reference to a band I used to be in that eventually broke up, and I agonized for weeks over a new handle.

Then one day, while listening to Turbonegro and re-reading Watership Down, I had an epiphany.
