Why didn't anyone tell me October Horse was out?

The new Colleen McCullough book?

The latest in the Masters of Rome series?

I was all set to come here and ask if anyone knew when it was coming out, when I thought I’d check amazon.com

Lo and behold, there it is! It was out back in November?

Do you mean to tell me I could have read it by now, instead of re-reading all my other books because I haven’t had a chance to get to the library!!!

I’m crushed.

I’m dismayed that my fellow Dopers didn’t tell me.

(I’m deciding if I can wait until the weekend to get to the mall, or get it online through Amazon or Wal-Mart.)

In any event, McCullough fans…The October Horse is out!!!

oh, ivyglass?

The October Horse is out.

What’s The October Horse?

It’s the sixth book in the Masters of Rome series, chronicling the history of ancient Rome starting about a generation before Julius Caesar and continuing through his life.

The last book, Caesar ended after Caesar’s defeat of Pompey at Pharsalus and the murder of Pompey on the shores of Egypt.

With the diversity of book-lovers here, I’m sure someone would have crowed about reading it by now…hmmmm…

I found out a couple of weeks ago and will buy it after I get my next pay check. I had alsmost given up on her continuing the series, since it’s been so long since the last one.
Also, books to read are backed up quite high, so maybe I won’t get around to it until it’s in paperback.

Also, I should almost re-read Caesar to remind myself what went on.

Coincidentally, I pick it up from the library tomorrow, my number finally having come up on the reservations list. I still miss Aurelia though, she was one of my favorite characters.

Okay, I bought it. I’m a little dismayed that there’s a big skip in time from the end of Caesar…apparently, he’s at the height of his power now, and has already fathered a son on Cleopatra. Damn, I was really looking to the rug-unrolling scene.
