I thought I would make my first post a great topic. I thought you people here might be able to answer my question: Why do black people like chicken so much? Is it in their genetics?
.
Probably the same reason any other people do…it tastes good. What the hell kind of question is that? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a genetic dispostion to craving any food, much less one that is race-specific.
BTW, pretty much all the black people I know are vegans.
What am I supposed to say? I killed the President of Paraguay with a fork. How are you? --GPB
Okay, lets not even start this, please…we know what’s going to happen…so DON’T GO THERE, PLEASE!!!
< hanging head shamfully for even replying, but trying to head this off at the pass >
WOW!! I LOVE fried chicken, so now I get to be black!! Hey, thanks for the info, and I was just about to fill out that Census 2000, think of the mistake I could have made!!
“Subconsciously there are many people you hate.” “Consciously, sir, consciously.” Yossarian corrected in an effort to help. “I hate them consciously.”

Yep, Blacks love fried chicken, watermelon, black-eyed peas, etc.
And so do a helluva lot of po’ southern honkies–trust me. I have some expertise in this.
By the way, I would invite all to read Faith Ringgold’s “Counting to Tar Beach,” about a black family going to the beach.
The first thing they bring is ONE watermelon. The second thing is TWO (pieces or buckets–don’t remember which) of chicken.
I think Ms Ringgold is herself Black.
My girlfriend’s cat is absolutely nuts about fried chicken. Exhibits excited behavior whenever fried chicken is present. This establishes a genetic link between cats and black people. I may have to rethink my creationist views after all.

for the same reason Purple people do… it tastes good!
I really try to be good but it just isn’t in my nature!
Let’s not confuse racial stereotypes with Yankees. I’m a Notherner, and had pretty much the same reaction everyone else did to the OP. (ex: Thank goodness Martin Luther King, Malcom X, Medger Evers and so many others died so that 30 years after the March on Washington, people can still have stereotypes like this, and see nothing wrong with expressing them.)

Cause it tastes like chicken.
Dammit handy! You beat me to it! Grrr…
The cracker mentality knows no geographic bounds.

Hey, DD, I think you nailed it. But can someone explain to me, WHY do any of us ever respond in any way to a post like this? Does this post deserve an answer? Should this be dignified with any kind of response at all?
Maybe it’s just me being immature, but yea, I think people like this need to know that while they may be a racist, not all of us are. Ignorance doesn’t go away by ignoring it.

SwimRid, I strongly suspect that the OP in this instance is not really a racist. I suspect he is an immature person who yearns for and needs attention. He is too immature to put forth the effort required to obtain positive attention and so settles for negative attention which is easy to get. I still feel strongly that the best course is to ignore such as he, but here I am, posting away.
