Why do cats bury their crap?

I assume they do this in nature also. I don’t know any other domestic animal that would use a liter box…so what is it about cats?

  1. Not all cats do. The alpha cat does not. The other cats in the group bury it out of respect to the alpha. Guess who is the alpha cat? Yes, you.

  2. Hiding their tracks so their enemies can’t locate them.

Why does gravity work? (i mean really, if we’re spinning around that bloody fast, so far as i’m concerned we should all have been flung free long ago, just more fodder for my “this is all just some warped dream” theory)

Why do birds continue to take our crap and try to raise their young in air thick enough to walk on rather then take advantage of their position and begin pelting us with stuff?

Why do people like Paul Simon continue to make music even though they must be rich enough never to have to care about it again?

I dont really know, i dont really care, but aren’t you glad they DO?

This is just my opinion…

They hide their crap to help cover the scent, as they hunt by stealth, and if there is cat crap all over the place, their prey won’t hang around the area for very long.

Actually, we have a fairly recent thread on this topic, here, which has some teriffic answers.

I going to close this thread and direct folks to that one so that we keep all the good info in the same place.
