Why do directors always have to add stupid sappy love scenes?

To be fair, the recent Richard Gere movie Shall We Dance? doesn’t have any sappy love scenes.

There’s a sappy reconciliation scene, and a brief hinting that one character has embraced his homosexual side, but I think the latter makes up for the former. :wink:

I did see this movie…I liked it, although it grew on me. The first time around I thought it was kind of weird.

Some do. And I’m not saying I never do. Just in the right circumstances. Romancing the Stone is appropriate. Bourne Identity had no use for a female. The role could have easily been filled by a male friend…but I’m sure homophobia would have reared its ugly head. A nice dapper English gentleman would have been perfect. :smiley:
