Pourquoi tant de haine ? What did we ever do to deserve *him *?
Canada participates. You got something against Canada? I’d be willing to wager plenty of people in Latin America are interested in it.
If it makes you feel better, I’m not remotely interested in baseball. Although I do respect that it’s one of one of the few mainstream professional sports one can play while actively smoking a cigar.
I think that the OP misses making the point that the US has been bearing the burden of policing the world since WWII at enormous cost to the peasants in the US in dollars and opportunity. Personally I think we should stop paying for all of this so much by ourselves. Talk about high taxes.
Anyway, I disagree with the OP as the subject matters are not related.
Ah yes, I love tulips too. So, definitely let’s thanks the Dutch, especially since it costed them a lot of hardships during the tulip mania.
And the Turks. People always forget to be grateful to the Turks for tulips.
The rest of the world would thank you for stopping.
Don’t you want to fight ignorance? Show him culture. He’ll shit his pants (actually, he’ll do that anyways).
Now if we could only get those US arms suppliers to agree. I think the justification for Pax Americana ended with the fall of the Soviet Union.
MLB players come from around the world now, and the game is an institution in much of the Western Hemisphere and east Asia.
But for the record I am grateful for people who know nothing about baseball talking about it “authoritatively.” No seriously I am. And I feel the same about non-footie fans.
Meh, just let us know when their gone and the beaches in Florida are no longer crowded.
This comes as a great surprise to Canadian baseball fans.
Now who’s looking stupid…silly Americans
Not to mention the Toronto Blue Jays themselves, who have won the World Series twice.
Personally I think the US should let the Japanese and Central American teams compete to be in the WS, but as always it’s all about the money.
Canada is still on the same continent. It’s like calling the UEFA European Football Championship the world series cup or something.
Oh, so they’re letting professional Japanese, Cuban, Korean, Colombian, and other foreign pro teams play in the World Series now, are they?
Color me surprised we changed up the World Series to involve teams from around the world, rather than just qualifying pro teams from the US (plus the oddball Canadian team).
I guess since MLS teams also feature foreign nationals, we can forget about that whole World Cup nonsense and rename the MLS cup the “World League Cup” instead.
Well, yeah, but when I signed up I thought I could do that from a safe distance !
“World Series” is still a ridiculous name.
Hee hee. you made me LOL
Fine, but my point is that the game is thoroughly international now. Can you find something more substantive to talk about than semantic tiddlywinks?
What I can’t stand is how ungrateful the French are for the time we relied on them to win our independence from England.
Exactly! We allowed them to come over here to kick English butt.
