Why do men dislike Inglebert Humperdink ?
In a spoiler box, so as not to spoil yours - The tears were because the shark, and other characters, were moved by the heart-rending rendition. That’s not quite “It ended in tears” - they were not revulsed, and certainly not injured. The shark was moved to release them, not ‘spit them out’.

Thanks for the link though, I’d not seen that before. I liked the fish head etc as backing singers.
This is from memory from almost 50 years ago, but…

You know how Stephen Colbert will introduce his guest for the interview, and then when the audience starts applauding, he’ll start bowing and mugging and steal all the applause?

EH did that for real, at the beginning of each episode of his old TV show.

Each show would begin with the announcer saying, “Starring Englebert Humperdink!”, and a spotlight would come on showing EH front and center on the stage, and he’d take a bunch of bows to the applause.

Then the announcer would say (e.g.), “Guest starring Robert Goulet!”, and EH would dramatically point to a spot behind him, and a spotlight would come on showing Robert Goulet standing way back on the stage, and EH would start bowing to the applause for Robert Goulet. And he’d go through that same process for all three or four guest stars.

So that’s why I never liked him.

I don’t think that this thread is any place to air our dirty family secrets.

“Oh, Engelbert Humperdink,
When you drive, does your bumper clink?”

Heh heh heh… you said “BONIST”…

Wow, that video has some hideous camera cuts. They have to be, because I’m no expert on how to film something and even I can tell they’re not good. Plus, they’re making him look weird and uncomfortable.

Although that might might not be the camera work.
