Even hours later, my belchs taste just like what I ate, instead of like vomit. Why is this? It seems that by now it should be mostly digested, and I’m pretty sure that if I were to throw up, it wouldn’t smell very good.

I think the problem is that we’ve only heard anecdotal evidence and unsubstantiated claims that your burps taste good.
