My feet rarely ache but occassionally during my period, I will find that they are quite sore. Last night, they ached so bad that I couldn’t go to sleep.
What causes this pain? Why would something occuring in my uterus affect my feet?

That’s what I was thinking, Harriet.
Something occuring in your uterus can affect EVERY other body part, just look at the things pregnancy does to seemingly non-related body parts
Your period is nature’s special way of making you as miserable as possible. That’s why your feet hurt. I think we should just count ourselves lucky we don’t bleed from the eyes and have bone-breaking seizures during this special time of womanliness.
