Fuji lens: Fujinon
Zenza Bronica lens: Zenzanon
Hexar lens: Hexanon
Zeiss lens: Biogon
Yashica lens: Yashinon
Schneider lens: Curtagon, Angulon, Variogon…
What does the “on” mean?
The one exception I can think of is Nikon…all their lenses are called Nikkor.
I don’t know, but there’s a rumour (probably false) that the name Nikon was an imitation of Zeiss Ikon.
ETA Wiki: “The name Nikon, which dates from 1946, is a merging of Nippon Kōgaku (日本光学: “Japan Optical”) and an imitation of Zeiss’s brand Ikon.”
Apart from Fuji and Zeiss, your examples are pretty obscure.
Canon, Tamron, Sigma, Tokina are all common DLSR lens manufacturers and ok Canon and Tamon end in on, but their lens series are not named ending in ‘on’.
They’re not really that obscure. Schneider and Zeiss are well known to serious pro photographers and have been for a century. Sigma, Tokina and Tamron are off-brands. The lenses made specifically for professional cameras other than Nikon and Canon usually end with “on”.
