Why do people act like it is never enough in parenting?

I hope you thanked her for her sage advice. She’s a mother. And an older one. She knows stuff she doesn’t even know anything about.

The one group of parents who constantly get unsolicited advice are white parents who adopt black children. Dear Black Women Giving Me Hair Advice about My African Daughter: Please Stop | Nancy French

I’ve only had two drive-by parenting comments that I remember - once when I mentioned something about a Cbeebies kids programme, I got a smug “Oh, I didn’t let my kids watch TV till they were over 2!” and a few times when I’ve been complaining about lack of sleep “Oh, mine’s slept through the night since 4 months!”

I think I may have been the annoying, “Oh, bottles? My baby’s so well and never ill because she was breast fed till 12 months” mother though, so it probably balances out

The more I think about this, the more I think this was a shitty thing to post.

I was lucky in my lifestyle and biological circumstances to be able to breastfeed, and I shouldn’t be even “jokingly” putting down bottle feeding mothers.

Apologies to any of you who read this.

Yep, you were lucky, and that’s about all there was to it. Thanks for apologizing

My daughter was never ill till we put her in daycare at 12 months. She was on formula from six weeks on, though.
