Why do pieces of the inside of my cheeks sometimes slough off after I brush my teeth?

Probably super weird, but the title says it all.

I was thinking maybe the toothpaste kills a thin layer of skin which is then shed off? However, I’d think if that were it, using mouthwash would cause it to happen every time, which isn’t the case.

Anyone have any idea what the heck is going on here, or at least confirmation that I’m not the only freak this happens to? For some bizarre reason, I am intensely curious.

This started happening to me recently as a matter of fact. It was only after I started using a new mouthwash, and since I’ve stopped using it it has stopped happening. Don’t know what was in the mouthwash to make it happen though

I’ve had it happen a day or two after a mild burn from hot food. It was of course dead from the heat and had nothing to do with the brushing. The brushing just mechanicaly removed already dead skin.
