Why do the British hate this poor child?

Dutch aren’t Scandinavian? Funny, their accents sound the same to me.

nOPe, they’re not. But, having said that, Afrikaners aren’t just of Dutch extraction. There’s been considerable input from French Heugenot, German, English and Scandinavian sources. Some of the most common Afrikaner surnames are French, like Theron, Du Toit and Du Plessis.

Not that matters today, anyway, as that kid doesn’t come off in the article (or sound, but then it sounds dubbed) like an Afrikaner - more like a mixed White with English backgound. Plus, in the modern world, names aren’t necessarily linked to ethnicity anymore.

I agree. I know many AA Seans and Heathers.

My girlfriend from China has named her daughter Ashley.

Syaaf Efrikan No, it’s Sith Eefreekin

Remember the Olympic whoops-a-daisy Sith Eefreekin track athlete Notta Bleck?

Haha, that’s brilliant! Yes, my British friends, there is an even worse ad aired here in the States (seen here in a 3-minute loop). And check out this analysis. I’m surprised people haven’t been slinging death threats at the HeadOn lady.

As for the Frosties ad, I thought it was okay the first couple times I saw it; the tune is undeniably catchy (I too like the reference to the Empire State), but I can see how it would get old.

Arf! That HeadOn advert is the shittest advert ever.

For some reason, Australia gets a lot of ads from various other countries, and just dubs them over with Australian actor’s voices. This has many problems that really bother me:
[ul]
[li]They also remove all other sound effects and music so it’s just voices heard, which is stark and freaky compared to other ads.[/li][li]We can sometime recognise the voices from other ads and they do not match the faces we are looking at.[/li][li]The acting is godawful.[/li][/ul]

sigh Save me from the crap commercials

So… how are they gonna taste again? I missed that part.

And that was no alien on the Empire State Building; it was clearly the Swamp Thing. Or its third cousin.
