Don’t flame me! Notice that the title is in quotation marks.
This comment was made to me by a Pakistani that lives in my dorm. Talk about ignorant!
It was late at night, and I was brushing my teeth when he came into the bathroom and asked me the question, “Why do the Bush’s like starting wars?”
I was pretty surprised, I know he’s Muslim, and I know he’s from Pakistan, but I wouldn’t have expected this. It was the first time we’d even discussed what happened with the terrorists, etc., and he was the one that brought it up.
I sat there, thinking about what I heard, and all I could come up with was, “Ummmm . . . we were the ones that were attacked.” After I said that he started backpeddaling, talking about how Pakistan was ready and they were just waiting for America to “make the first move.”
Now he knows that I wasn’t the biggest fan of Bush (notice the past tense) during the election. So I don’t know if he thought I would side with the Taliban on this one or what.
This guy works on campus (apparently he’s allowed to do that), but he doesn’t have to pay any taxes (other than on stuff he buys) because he’s not a citizen. And then he pulls this shit? I just don’t understand it.
Before this, he was always talking about what great friends the US and Pakistan are how we have treaties with each other and how they are our friends. He says they aren’t planning to use their Nukes, they just have them to keep India from attacking them. I wasn’t up on international affairs so I didn’t know that we weren’t great buddies with Pakistan, and I’ve been tempted to ask him what the deal with Pakistan not wanting to help out was if our countries were such great “friends.” I’ve held out though, and haven’t said any of those things. Then he says something like we were the ones that started this.
I know this is a really weak rant, but I was hoping someone would explain what this idiot’s thought process was. If other people feel like ripping in to him, it’s all good. I’m sure you can do a better job than I would’ve had I really tried.
