I have noticed an interesting phenomenon. When entering a new town, there are signs posted at the border which feature the logos of fraternal organizations such as the Lions Club, Kiwanis, Elks Club, Rotary, Knights of Columbus, etc… What is the purpose of these signs?
It is an easy way for a visitor to town to see when and where meetings are held locally.
I would also bet that Long Ago and Far Away, some towns didn’t bother with markers at the edge of town. Such signs told travelers the name of the village.
(In Panama and Mexico companies post signs like these.)
