Why do you drink?

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Now that I’m not living in a dorm anymore, drinking has become more of a social thing rather than a “it’s Thursday night and I must get drunk!” sort of thing.

Also, drinking can spice up an event. Dorky as it is, this Saturday I will be attending a Trivial Pursuit party, wherein you must take a shot for each wrong answer. I hope to do well, because after about 3 wrong answers I’ll be a goner!

CorBlimeyGuvnor be welcome, enjoy your stay.

I drink because I like the taste of beer and because I like to catch a little buzz.

I drink to assuage the angry voices in my head that tell me to hurt little animals.

And I really like the taste of beer! I even brew my own.

The voices demand I brew non-stop.

Started out social, really because it just seemed like everyone had so much fun drinking, and then as I learned my limits I started drinking to get drunk, and along the way I developed a taste for it (both literally and figuratively).
Now, it’s a little bit of everything. It’s social, because I don’t ever do it alone. It’s usually to get drunk, but not always; sometimes I just want to have one drink to chill out or just to feel something different from the everyday blah. And of course I love the taste, excluding the cheaper bourbons and most light beers.

…Lovely day for a Guinness, isn’t it?

Four kids, two ex-wives, a stressfull job, a mailbox full of bills and republicans. Need any more reasons?

Ditto for me.

I drink because drinking gives me that “kick in the ass” to get out there and be social. I’m more loose… more fun, and now I don’t mind making a fool out of myself… which, of course, all my friends find funny.

Never drink - hate it.

Pity people who have to drink to have fun.
(Bring on the flaming)

I drink to get drunk, and most often do so alone and in the dark to “reflect” on things.

sweet liquor eases the pain.

to quote a friend, “I’m like a chocoholic, but for booze.”

I very, very seldom drink. I know full well that each drink will probably be my last for a year or so, and it doesn’t bother me the slightest. If I do drink, it’s because someone offered the drink, and I wasn’t doing anything at the time that required engaging my mind. I also had to trust the person and to be in the same building that I would sleep in.

This has, incidentally, limited my drinking to exactly three occaisions. Only one of those occaisions affected me in the slightest, and it really was slight (a slight relaxation). The other two times, I drank slower than my metabolism, and didn’t feel a thing, though I did get hung over from a glass of champagne.

So, esentially, I do it as a fairly intimate social gesture. You will never see me drinking in a group, or drinking alone. It just doesn’t work that way for me; it’s like sex, best with one or two others.

I do that sometimes… It’s got to be the most relaxing thing to do.

I drink maybe once every two or three months and I really don’t know why I do it.

'cause I can, I guess… I sure don’t like the taste (which is why I stick to the flavored malt beverages instead of liquid bile, like beer) and I have no social life to speak of.

The reason I drink has changed over the years. I drank socially as a young teen 13/14, as I though it was cool to say I’d been drinking. It then changed to just enjoying having a drink with my friends, and ocasionally drinking too much. Then at about 17 for a couple of months it changed to I was just drinking to get drunk. I was deppresed and enjoyed the feeling of being drunk. Now its back to enjoying a drink with my friends and ocasionally getting drunk!

Because I can’t stop.

The taste of beer brings back memories of happier times. Kinda like hearing that special song and reliving that first dance with that special woman. Recalling the times she sat here with me and we would drink. We would play the jukebox and talk.

Or maybe I drink to forget.

I dont drink to forget, but when I wake up I tend to have forgotten.
Usually, how I manged to spend £50, why I have a large bruise on my head, where are my trousers, and unfortunately, why am I in this police cell again!

Re: Why do you drink?

To get drunk!!!

Re: Why do you roll smoke?

To get stoned!!!

Re: Why must you live out the songs that you wrote?

To get laid!!!

With apologies to Hank Williams Jr.

I drink because I don’t like our carpet.

I used to drink just to get drunk. I still do sometimes. Special occasions mostly. Usually it’s to relax after work/chores are done. I tend to be a very tense person, and most people find me less agitated after a beer or two.

I drink because…
Hell with it…who fancies going out for a drink?
