I agree that it’s glaring hypocrisy, but it answers the question of why Trump’s voters continue to support him. Hypocrisy is offensive to progressives because they value consistency and fact-based truth. Conservatives tend to be more subjective with people and they trust their perceptions over facts. They also tend to behave more like tribesmen. They can forgive the blatant sins of a tribal chief more than they can tolerate accidental missteps of those not in the tribe.
Hillary Hysteria.
Republicans, having learned from their Russian allies, of course turn everything around and accuse their opposition of doing exactly what they’re doing.
Which is why they accuse us of hysteria toward Trump.
But yeah, as I keep posting in various places: “Hillary isn’t under your beds waiting to steal your children and take them to pizza parlors or Mars.”
Are you implying that the Republicans have been allied with the Russians for two decades?
Allied? No. But they have certainly been studying the authoritarian oligarchy play book. You don’t have to like your opponent to admire his strategy. But it doesn’t hurt.
Of course not. That’s Jeff Bezos.
k9: I was not aware vitrification was so durable. Lesson learned.
I wasn’t trying to disparage scientists with the alchemy quip. The whole thing comes down to, add a neutron to uranium, you get fuel. Take a neutron away from lead and you have gold. We understand these things, but following through can be another issue.
I wasn’t saying Your attitude was a one-liner but that the GOP’s is. “Regulations are bad”, full stop, just strikes me as something pitched to idiots. Do they favor anarchy? Laws against murder are regulations, should we abandon those? The whole conversation is straight up stupid, maybe meant to stoke fears of a government boogeyman conspiracy that gives people something far away to blame for all their problems, and if we could just. cut. taxes…
Anyway, when someone comes along and calls out a Specific regulation and can explain the details of WHY it is bad, then we’re not demagogueing suckers, we’re having a conversation. Your example of redundant cooling systems is like that.
Anyhoo, if I have more to say it will have to wait for tomorrow…
That’s “take TWO (not ONE) PROTONS (not NEUTRONS) away from lead and you get gold.”
Yeah, but it turns out that’s really hard to do and not something you can do through simple chemistry.
I’m assuming those are random examples, as they are both a bit wrong. But, we do understand the process of nuclear fission far better than we do that of making gold out of lead. Not saying we couldn’t make gold out of lead if we wanted to, we certainly know how, it’s just not even close to worth it. Compared to making lead into gold, making power out of uranium and thorium is actually easy.
I fully agree. I know of many specific regulations that are less productive than they should be, and that could be looked at to ensure that they are meeting the needs that they were implemented for. I also know of some things that are not regulated that should be.
And there can be disagreements on whether the regulation is good or bad, and some of the nukies I’ve seen have had more blanket statements that getting rid of all nuclear regulations would be a good thing, and I certainly can’t get behind that.
I appreciate your feedback. Crap it’s the pit, think of an insult…
Or complex chemistry, for that matter.
One proton, two protons, you are willing to fight me over literally the smallest differences! Shall I call you a twatwaffle? I can only speculate what that even is. Anyone know?
I know douche is bad, but never really understood why people call each other that. I mean, c’mon.
And what is a git? I’m not very good at this…
I just tried to literally interpret ‘twatwaffle’ and lost my appetite.
Urban Dictionary
The idiot that gets on your last damn nerve. The person you know that suffers from excessive verbal diarrhea. The one you want to smack in the face with a pick-axe. The person who has done it all and done it better than you.
Someone who’s vagina has been smashed so many times it begins to look like a nasty ass waffle.

From “beget”. A French bread, long and then, which can hoist a white flag if needed, or otherwise, eaten.
“Git is a distributed version control system.”
Or used in this scene with Tom Baker chewing more scenery than BRIAN BLESSED.
Also a good choice. Google the term for some fun search results.
Seems yet another Trump supporter demures from offering a reasoned explanation.
I realize the majority of this board runs anti-Trump, so it can’t be an easy position to defend. Or perhaps it’s not a defensible position after all. We may never know.
Most trump supporters I know answer why they like trump with a “I just disliked Hillary more.” I accept that, it’s when they start qualifying why they think trump’s a better choice that they get lost.
Oh, we know. They can’t defend their assertions, which are largely false. Or they blow the dog whistle and we call them out on it.
