Why does asparagus make your pee smell funny?

Allthough there might be some questions how these two combounds are created in a human body, we do know where and how & why they leave from body.

The culprit of course is liver. Liver’s function is to render non-water soluble toxins into water soluble toxins. After it has done its job, kidneys can eject the molecule in urine.

No biggie, you’ll know for next time, and, as I say, welcome!

Asparagus contains a chemical in it’s strtucture that causes the urine to smell to some people. It seems funny to me, a smeller, that others cannot smell what I do. The nose receptors of people are different and what one person smells, others may not. The chemical is asparagaine and it also makes the urine of those who eat cabbage and beef kind of strong also. I use the smell to regulate my consumption of natural foods to treat my temporal lobe epilepsy since I am allergic to the meds. When I was taking the meds I smelled the same foul odor in my urine.

True that, Rickymouse. Apparently everyone’s pee smells funny post-asparagus consumption but not everyone can smell it. Whether one can or cannot detect it is genetically determined. Your usage of urine odor to regulate your seizure disorder treatment is fascinating. (Well, to me at least.) How exactly do you regulate your therapy? What do you eat when you detect an off odor? Feel free to email me if you don’t want to hijack the thread. I may well be the only other person on the planet interested in precisely how your pee smells. Then again, given some of the absurdity that is the internet, maybe not.

I mostly eat cabbage and red meats. I could use a high fat, ketogenic diet, but can’t figure how to regulate it so I initially had problems with auras till I figured the pee smell out. I like asparagus but it is strong and will dope you up a bit. If you get PBS, they had a show on the asparagus growers in lower MI. I noticed the relaxed layed back personalities of the people there. They seemed to have such a relaxed disposition and were satisfied with their farming and their way of life. This is after I had done research on the ruins and Odin treating the vikings to the asparagae dancers when they came home. I feel This treatment was for the settling of the mind so they weren’t roudy when home. They probably got a few bangs on their heads also. I had read of the Roman empires use of cabbage in their diet previously but didn’t understand at that time why it was included in their diet. The Germans also used a lot of cabbage. Upon studying things I discovered that this chemical was the basis for the medicine to treat epilepsy and my problem with the allergy may have been from my body thinking I was eating hundreds of spears a day. The chemicals my body created to process the asparagus was possibly causing problems with my health. My mammilian immune system was turned off and I got sick. I’m not sure if that was the same chemical or if it was another that stops a histimine reaction to the meds that caused the problem. Or both. There are a lot of natural meds out there that are a basis for the Pharmacutical companies research. If you don’t like being mellow, don’t eat asparagus.
