Why does bacon taste like bacon?

Similarly, the flavour of whisky is almost entirely dictated by how it’s matured - brewing and distilling has very little to do with it except for smoking (if any). Cite: tour of my local whisky distillery. :slight_smile:

i would love to find beef bacon again, i found a package in a grocery once, but i cant remember which one=(

and i am having trouble eating pork products=( and i really really miss bacon=(

I’d like to know how many different animals can be made into bacon. Turkey bacon doesn’t count because it is just reconstituted turkey, and not really the the meat as it is cut from the animal. Beef bacon sounds interesting.

Perhaps, but that’s a brand name. In that situation, I’d probably be bothered by another stout trying to call itself Guinness

FWIW, according to the United States Department of Agriculture, at least, it’s only bacon if it was sawed off a pig.

That being said, there should be less ire felt toward turkey bacon and more expressed toward pre-cooked microwaveable bacon.
