Why does Fluoride makes me thirsty!

On advice from my dentist I use several fluoride treatments. Not all at the same time, of course.
What I’ve found is, regardless of what product used, about twenty minutes after using the fluoride I’m so damn thirsty I think I’m going to croak! But I’m not supposed to eat/drink anything for an hour after use. Anyone have any ideas? Dentist just shrugs and says to wait to drink something.

A related question here is whether and when the mine placement is determined. I think it is definately true that the mine placement is NOT determined until AFTER you click the first space. However, I’m not entirely convinced that it’s then fully determined at that point either. I could swear, but the program seems to punish uninformed guesses at a more than random rate.

Obviously, this belongs in the minesweeper thread. Firefox’s tabbed browsing makes things like this a little TOO easy.

An hour? What, is your dentist a sadist? All the Colgate home use products recommend a wait of 30 minutes.

I have no idea why you get so thirsty, unless you’re using one of the gels. That stuff is nasty.

It might be a diuretic. You gave me a funny image of the dentist just shrugging in response to your pain.

Couldn’t it be something simple like being told you can’t drink for an hour that makes you feel thirsty?

No, I’m not eight years old, why’dya ask? :stuck_out_tongue:

My doc recommended me some superduper prescription toothpaste, but suggested using it at night right before bed, perhaps you could try that?

That’s when I do use it. For some reason the stuff makes my mouth and throat dry as a desert. And it doesn’t matter if I use the paste, gel, or rinse, which is why I’m assuming it’s the fluoride that’s doing it and not some other ingredient.

His belief is, the benefit to using the fluoride out weighs my them making me thirsty.

I don’t have much to add to this and as I’m about to go to bed I’m not doing any searching tonight, so really I’m just here to say I don’t think you’re crazy Pk… sometimes it just helps to hear somebody say that.

I don’t go to the dentist very often, but when I do there’s no avoiding the flouride treatment , however i d-o find that the gel teeth molds tend to save me a few tastebuds for lunch and supper later that day, whereas the flouride “swish” makes it so I could be eatin’ a cardboard shoebox and not know the difference from actual food.

I also recall being extremely thirsty after the “swish” and being unable to rinse any lest I dilute the flouride treatment . :smack: … strange that I never gave it much thought…anyway- good luck in your search detective, I feel your pain- later
