So, I’m poaching ice from my magazine’s test-kitchen refrigerator. It’s coming out of your standard, in-the-door, half-moon automatic icemaker, hooked up to tap water, etc.
But it tastes like Cherry 7-UP.
Can anyone think of a reasonable reason? At first I thought it was just an underlying flavor from my soda (I drink Diet Dr Pepper), but I washed my glass and got fresh ice … cherry.
Is this some wacky prank from the food dept.? Some insidious cherry-flavored mildew that’s thriving in the ice maker?
