Why does the car alarm go off when it's cold?

Tucker-Babe’s truck has an alarm system on it, and anytime it’s less than about 30ºF at night, it goes off. Only once, though. Reset it, and it doesn’t go off for the rest of the night.

It happens only when it’s cold, and it’s relatively consistent. I can’t say it happens every time–but just about.

And it bothers me.

Does it have a glass breakage sensor (microphone)? I’ve heard this can be caused by the glass windows “pinging” after the car is turned off, due to expansion and contraction caused by the cold weather.

I have read the same thing. Try disconnecting the glass sensor to see if the problem goes away.
