Why doesn't Mozilla load all of the page

So I was trying to load www.technorati.com (the page that shows the 100 most talked about news items), and Mozilla has this thing where it will only load the first dozen or so links, especially if something else (like internet radio) is running. I’ve also noticed that on a few sites with a lot of high rez pictures will not load completely either, even when there is nothing else running.

What do I have to do to make Mozilla load the whole page, and not stop part way through?

Thanks

The page http://www.technorati.com/live/top100.html works for me fine, using Mozilla Firefox. I think a better place to ask the question would be at the forums at mozillazine.org.

It works fine for me, on Mozilla. Are you on a slow dialup connection?

Loads for me. Mozilla Firefox 0.9.3, dialup at 53.2 Kbps. You can try tweaking the timeout settings. Open a new browser window and type about:config in teh address bar and hit <enter>. In the Filter field at the top, type timeout. This will show you all the timeout settings. Try increasing them by 50% or so and see if this makes a difference. In particular, the most likely culprits are network.http.keep-alive.timeout and network.http.request.timeout. As stated above, your problem may be a particularly slow connection, and this might help, if you can’t get your connection speed up.

I did all that and more, I accidentally hit Network.http.connect.timeout, but I increased that for good measure too. The other options you listed, I doubled them, then doubled them again, and all I got was 66 links, and the last dozen did not have any text in them at all. For control purposes I opened technorati before I changed anything and I got 66 then too. I’ve got a broadband connection, so it cannot be the connection’s fault.

I don’t suppose you have any other ideas, because I really like technorati (despite all the polital GWB did this stuff that gets up there often). :frowning:

What plug-ins do you use? They can sometimes cause conflicts.

Not much help here unfortunately, just to say that like Gorillaman the page loads just fine in Firefox 0.9.3., and quickly.

Have you tried wiping and reloading?

Is it the full Mozilla or Firefox?

Presuming you have IE, how does that perform?

Wiping and reloading? Which face is the “huh?” face I swear you’re not speaking real english there.

It’s the full mozilla (I know that because I clicked on a link to download mozilla, and my window has composer, and the email thing and what not down at the bottom)

IE does it properly, but I hate using IE, after using mozilla it’s like being told to go back to using a horse and buggy, instead of a corvette.

I hope that sheds some light on the situation

crap . . . I went back to technorati to see if it was still not working, and now I’m getting all 100 links. WTF? Damn computers, that makes no sense, why would it load a few of them when nothing was open, but now it loads all of them even though I have internet radio on.

All fixed then. Just random cyber-hiccups by the look of it.

By wipe and reload, I meant that you remove Firefox from the system, do a cleanup and defrag, then reload it. Sometimes works wonders.

If anyone is still interested, I think I figured out why my Mozilla wasn’t working properly . …

It was my Norton Firewall, when I turn the ad blocking off, some websites that previously didn’t work start to work, and when I close the whole thing, all websites (thus far at least) seem to work properly. Just FYI

Thanks for taking the trouble to post the feedback
QOFM: Sit Down , always nice to know what the problem really was. Fairly easy to deduce, with hindsight.

Have you tried Zone Alam?
