Why doesn't my computer recognize my RAM

My point was just that buying a socket-A motherboard now is locking him into spending not just the cost of another motherboard in a few years, but also a CPU and probably most of his peripherals. But you’re clearly right – upgrading to something that supports all the new standards now means getting all of those new components now, while they’re expensive.

:smack:

I’m going through the same quandary myself with a similar Socket A system, but I’ve decided to not upgrade. I’m bankrolling the cost of all possible current upgrades (“I could really use 1 more GB of RAM”) against the future cost of my system, since, when I make the generational leap I’ll want to make sure to get several high-end parts.
