Why don't Christians go around naked?

It is my understanding that Adam and Eve didn’t know they were naked and were not ashamed until they were tainted with sin. Since Christ died for the sins of man and takes away our sins why do Christians still notice and feel ashamed they are naked?

Because it’s cold.

It’s not shame. I just can’t live without pockets.

Embarrassment. If the entire world did except for what clothing needed to be worn for specific jobs life would be much different. Within a year nobody would worry about nudity. Several businesses would close. There should be more money for important things.

Not enough time to go to the gym?

Some do.

Remember Grandma? Remember what happened every time she coughed?
That’s why we have clothing laws.

Not beeing a christian, I would say the answer is simple:

Going around naked would rise sexual desire in people and that is not wanted in any christian belive.

Of course you might argue, that with most people seeing them naked would not make you think about sex, but I didn’t say it was logic.

By the way what is the fuss about Janet Jackson?
I don’t get it.

I think that the formal answer to this is probably:

Although we are spiritually restored to a Adam-like state, we are still in our mortal bodies and are still subject to temptation and sin - we are saved from the spiritual effect of sin, we are not yet removed from its presence or its effect on our mortal bodies and so we must guard against temptation etc.

Or something like that.

Most people over the age of 25 (and a good number of people under) look a lot more provocative with some clothes on; consider the Wonderbra, lycra spandex, and padded shoulders. I don’t think Alanis Morrisette’s “Thank You” video lured anyone into any Near Occasions of Sin.

She had the temerity to make American football look less gay for a moment.

The same argument might apply to being vegetarian.

Mmmm… naked Christians…
I think Neurotik, 45/70, Mangetout, and others have all mentioned valid reasons. It’s also worth pointing out that many people, Christian or non, walk around their own homes naked or at least don’t see any big deal if they happen to be seen that way—especially if it’s just Adam and Eve who are home alone together. So it isn’t being nekkid per se that’s the problem, it’s being nekkid in public.

This thread is not what I thought it was about. If they would give away their tunics and cloaks the way they are supposed to, there would be a lot more nekkid Christians running around.

“By their nudity, you shall know them”

His disciples said, “When will you be shown forth to us and when shall we behold you?” Jesus said, “When you strip naked without being ashamed, and take your garments and put them under your feet like little children and tread upon them, then [you] will see the child of the living. And you will not be afraid.”
-Gospel of Thomas: saying 37

I don’t feel shame, i just don’t want to go to jail.

Coughed? I see your point about naked grandmas (the movie Calendar Girls notwithstanding)m but what’s the cough have to do with anything?

cmkeller a whole lot of women have certain problems after they bear children, which often get worse with age. So grandma is quite likely to have a little problem with letting a bit of urine go whenever she coughs.

Which is why I’m not that upset over those c-sections I had to have.

I think someone mixed up cause and effect here…

So they don’t scare each other?
