Why don't the black guys ever make it?? (mild)

I’m talking about disaster movies. One would think, that in this day and age, that Hollywood would have gotten with the program, race relations-wise that is.

I mean, what is the deal?? Why is it that the “black guy” always dies. And they’re always really, REALLY nice guys too. They’ve been doing this as far back as “Grizzly” (we just KNEW the poor black guy was gonna be the first. He was a really nice guy, and he was black).

Except for Will Smith, I haven’t seen any black guys survive any monsters recently, be they extra-terrestrial, or of the “Jason” genre.

Come ON Hollywood, let’s let the black guys with the really nice personalies survive the disasters huh???

(FTR, I’m neither black, nor a guy).

The black guy lived in The Day After Tomorrow and Dawn of the Dead (2004).

Doesn’t Morgan Freeman usually survive?

Blair Underwood lasted in Deep Impact. Or at least, lasted as long as everyone else.

I typed out a long, well worded response as to how and why this is so wrong, but it isn’t even worth it. This is one of the lamest and most baseless OPs I’ve seen in awhile.

Blade lived through both movies.

Wasn’t it two black guys in that one? The nerdy one and the one with the dog?

So did the two cops in the Bad Boy movies. So did Lando Calrissian. So did Danny Glover in the Lethal Weapon movies.

Shall we continue, or have you realized that this wasn’t the best premise for a Pit thread yet?

It’s not that bad.

Actually, your response inspired me to do a google search and I came across this site. You can judge for yourself.

So I guess a black guy in a red shirt is just straight-up fucked.

Good point–I was thinking of the homeless guy, but the nerd lived, too.

LL Cool J was one of two survivors, along with Thomas Jane, in “Deep Blue Sea.”

All the speaking part black people lived in “Independence Day.”

Well, yeah, it’s kinda like being Ensign Jones on the original Star Trek. “Spock, Bones, and Ensign Jones, report to the transporter room. Jones, don’t check out any library books on the way.”

Didn’t LL Cool J outlive the shark in Deep Blue Sea?

People should also lighten the hell up. Even if CanvasShoes is serious, you don’t have to be.

After reading that page, I think this thread should be renamed to Why doesn’t Paul Winfield ever make it?

Wasn’t there a Family Guy bit like this"

Kirk: I’m going down to the planet. Spock, Bones, Scotty, and Ensign Jones, you’re with me."

Ensign Jones: “Oh, crap!”

Well, that was quite selective, and it left out a boatload, not even to mention the inanity of the Schwarzenegger commentary. He’s the star, the hero, the big name. Of COURSE he survives, except in the Terminator movies. But that certainly didn’t make a dent in the opinions of the guy on that website, did it?

How about Ice-T in Surviving The Game? Or doesn’t that count because Charles S. Dutton bought it?

Give me a break.

I think Ice-T also survived in Anaconda.

House on Haunted Hill had a white girl and a black guy survive.
