Why don't they make People Kibble?

I guess it would tend to repeat on you.

This thread is hilarious.

As a poor student, I agree that some sort of people kibble would be wonderful.

Unfortunately, this thread keeps making me think of… Nutraloaf!
From Wiki:
“Prison loaf is usually exceedingly bland in taste, perhaps even unpleasant, but prison wardens argue that nutraloaf provides enough nutrition to keep prisoners healthy without requiring utensils to be issued.”
Vegan and Vegetarian nutraloaf is also available.
This seems like a good basis for some sort of people kibble, if it wasn’t so disgusting.

For amusement purposes: A taste test of Nutraloaf
[First post ever, huzzah!]

There once was a wonderful product. The Carnation Instant Breakfast Bar. It was people chow. Mountain climber’s iron rations that didn’t suck. Boy Scouts lived on the stuff every other weekend, early survivalists stocked up by the case, it was the primal nutrition/health/protein bar. Despite all this, they just tasted awesome. Yummy.

Late 70’s package

You all realize that we’re keeping a zombie thread alive, don’t you? I have no idea why a mod hasn’t closed it yet.

And no, I’m not going to report it.

Almost certainly this is Plumpy’nut, mentioned above.

Probably because they’ve relaxed the policy on closing zombie threads, and this one actually has relevant new information to discuss, like the existence of Plumpy’nut and the taste test of prison nutriloaf.

Better do it quick, before someone else in this thread beats you to it…

I think it’s a great idea. I’d keep a bag, with its big checkerboard pattern and “Human Chow” label (looking just different enough from Monkey Chow to avoid a cease-and-desist letter…), in my desk drawer.

I’d love to call it Homo Chow, but customers’ first reaction might not be “Hey, that’s MY genus!”

Wait, I DO keep People Kibble in my desk drawer. Mixed nuts and dried fruit and dark chocolate chunks! Mmmm…

Is this PlumpyNut stuff available for purchase at the retail level, or is it restricted to famine-relief efforts?

You may have to brush up on your Underfed-Third-World-Waif-With-Torn-Boxers impersonation.

What?

I’m just sayin’ that mine’s spot on (and I’ve got a stash of PlumpyNut to prove it).

I ate almost nothing but trail mix on a four day cross country drive pulling all my belongings in a trailer way too heavy for the car I was driving.

So if we make Humana Chow ™ a trail mix type food, what would be missing nutritionally? Let’s say it’s made out of various dried nuts and fruits (and maybe M&Ms). I’m guessing we’d at least need more calcium. Would those yogurt covered raisons do the trick. We could add some Total cereal for added crunch.

It’s realtively tastey and stores for a long period. Would meat be needed or would the nuts give enough protein?

Oh, is this a Phoenix thread? It’s risen from the dead twice now.
