The last 5 or so years have brought with them a barage of craptastic movies based on old TV shows, but not I Dream of Jeannie. Why not?
My personal opinion is that they (being those oh-so-bright movie producers) haven’t considered making a movie because they fear backlash from feminists who would be pissed by a movie honoring a show that protrayed a woman as a willing slave to some NASA guy. Any other theories?
It might also be because they did a made for TV movie version of the show which starred what’s-his-name, (you know the guy who played Trapper John on MASH** and it pretty much sucked. Plus, NASA ain’t exactly on the forefront of people’s minds these days.
Oh! Finally a thread all about me! I am popular after all! Yay! I have been waiting for this day for so long. Wow, it’s so good to know that I have some fans out there!
Oh, wait…nevermind
At work we got to talking on this show/cartoon, and as far as any of us had seen, Arabs generally have brown hair, but the real-life Jeanie had blonde and the cartoon had red, and as well as changed to that wierd phallic ponytail-shaking deal, nose-wiggling being too subtle for cartoonists I guess. Like, in the cartoon episode where somebody cut off her ponytail, and all her power was gone?
Very strange. - MC
I am quite sure I heard a few years ago they were going to make an IDOJ movie. The only reason I remember is that they were talking with Lisa Kudrow to play Jeannie, and I thought she was a pretty good choice. Not good enough to make me want to see the movie, but a good choice none the less.
