Okay. I haven’t read any of his other posts.
But the one with the racist buzzword in it, you agreed to.

Yiddish is a racist buzzword? Tell that to my classmate who is performing in a Yiddish theater. In my family, we used that word to refer to the generation of Jews who grew up speaking Yiddish. Several of my relatives close to that generation used the word to describe fellow Jews, or themselves. I have literally never before heard the claim that “Yiddish” is a racist buzzword. Are “Italian”, “French”, and “German” also racist buzzwords?
Although,…, For a while there, Microsoft Word told me that “Jew” was racist, and I shouldn’t use it. Fun fact, we Jews use the word as a noun and expect others to, as well. “Jew” as a verb is generally offensive, and the polite adjective is “Jewish” (or sometimes “Yiddish”, depending on exactly what is meant.)
It’s one of the reasons he gave for wanting Bernie dead. (“I hope he dies,” as I recall).
“Yiddish”, referring to anything other than the language or culture, is one of those words that we can say, but they can’t.
I wasn’t aware of that. I’ve literally never run into it used negatively before. I guess I don’t hear it used all that much other than by old Jews (or to refer to the language or the culture.) Really, to me, what comes across as negative in calling Sanders “Yiddish” is the implication that he’s old – which is true, of course, but that’s always been a question mark about him, and the heart attack just makes it worse.
Yikes!
Well, I certainly don’t agree with him on that. I wish Bernie a quick return to good health. I do hope he chooses to campaign for others, and drops his own run, but it doesn’t look like he will.
There’s a very thin line between “Yiddish” and “Yid-ish”, if you catch my drift.
I actually do.
I have heard “the yids” used as a perjorative.
What is utterly absurd in the extreme is how some folks focus on this nonsense rather than the goal of a more inclusive society that works for all versus the donor class alone.
To get that done we first need to get someone into the oval office. I don’t believe Bernie’s the guy for it, especially in light of his heart attack.
Bernie is 78 years old. He just had a heart attack. Probably a more serious heart attack than we will find out about. He has no real chance of becoming the Democratic nominee. Just a crazy old man.
What is worse is that he is a spoiler. He has no chance but will draw his followers away from the party vote. They will become demoralized and stay home on voting day, and re-elect Trump by default.
That is why I do not support Bernie Sanders.
“Yid”, whether singular or plural and with or without “the”, is very definitely perjorative. Do not use. (Compare the similar perjorative abbreviation for “Japanese”.)
“Yiddish” is an entirely acceptable and proper name for the language, and can be used for the culture. Whether it’s OK for a person is going to depend on the context.
Used in the context of Sanders? He is not of Yiddish culture. My Bubby was. Him no. It is not a synonym for anyone or thing Jewish other than used pejoratively. It does not mean an older Jew, even in jest. You wanna be cute and make the cultural reference call him an alterkocher. Not nice but not going to be read as hate speech.
Sounds like surrender. Dems are really accomplished at that.
You sound concerned.
Oh just call him nebbish.
Anyhoos,
Why don’t you support Bernie Sanders? (if you don’t)
Because his voice reminded me too much of the Liquid Plumbr plumber
(Nice little drain suction sound at the end, there.)
