Why has Trump given only one solo press conference?

I went to a funeral in Dayton. It cost me $700. There was a nice Air Force Museum nearby. It wasn’t nearly as nice as the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, FL.

Surely it would be more helpful to live for those children?

And like all cowards, he collapses when confronted. Look at his behavior towards Kim Jong Un. Lots of tough talk on his emo social media account, but he immediately drops to his knees and starts blowing the guy in person.

So yeah, too chickenshit to go one on one with anyone armed with facts.

Is it possible that the press is hostile to Trump because of what he says and does? Conservatives keep blaming the “Liberal Media” and “Fake News” as if the world didn’t know Donald Trump for 30 years before he ever ran for president.

There is a special place in hell reserved for those who support separating migrant children from their parents. Those humans who support these tactics are already soulless. This cite says the US is ripping apart families at the rate of 46/day. I do feel shame. One is too many.

I received a call; so please forgive me if this is no longer relevant.

Times change. Years ago ABC, CBS, and NBC dominated primetime viewing and all three networks showed Presidential press conferences in full (plus PBS with its limited following). So Presidential press conferences had massive impact. I don’t think this is the case today (since switching to the internet in the 1990s I have only a vague idea of what is going on with those media).

He’s delusional but quite lucid and knows a press conference involves being asked unexpected questions that he’s supposed to answer clearly, accurately and concisely. Since he doesn’t think in that manner and would only be able to bloviate or babble, attempting to look sexy, clever and charismatic in response he’s at least smart enough not to put himself through that.
He feels the press is hostile b/c they don’t ask nice questions about how great he is, and they might tell him he’s wrong about something. Then he’d look down, see he has no clothes on and run into the bushes like Sean Spicer.
Remember Sean Spicer, ya’ll? That was less than a year ago that we had the first SS, before they were replaced by the current SS.

Nah, he never lets facts bother him, just makes them up as he goes. As you says to those that are armed with facts, he just starts screaming “Fake News” and his cult members believe him.

If I got caught telling 19 verifiable lies in the first one, I’d have quit, too.

A year? A dog year, maybe…

Trump does not believe that the government should be transparent. He believes he should be able to do whatever he wants without accountability because he is the president.

He doesn’t care about appealing to anyone besides his core base.

And so he sees no benefit to himself in conducting a press conference. Instead he continues to hold post-election campaign rallies for his teeming sycophants so he can wallow in praise.

I also suspect his staff may try to prevent it since he’s such a loose cannon.

BTW Sanders has been reported as saying to friends she will be leaving the White House by the end of the year.

No, Trump is not at all delusional. He knows exactly what he’s doing and why. His grip on reality is excellent. He is killing children on purpose for his image, not accidentally due to mental deficiency.

However, Trump is not the problem as such. If he hadn’t done it, someone else would have. The problem is that Americans are so fucking stupid. Not all, but certainly most Americans, because he’s still in office.

I think the intelligent Americans are afraid to call out their friends and neighbours for being such idiots; I would be too. But seriously, what are you going to do next? Nothing?

Eh. I think Trump has deluded himself to believe he is some sort of great thinker and politician. Perhaps he has moments of introspection, but they must be few and far between.

He’s probably afraid to look at his tax returns/bottom line, and so only hires people that will tell him how great he is.

“Why are we turning to Russia for loans?”.
“Because they love you and you are getting the best deal ever!!”

Um… cite? :dubious:

Can’t cite a “Perhaps.”

So true. I’m was trying to see anything of credit that that man has done in his entire life. Introspection would be a start. But, um. If he saw into himself, what would he find? Would he care? He answers that question every dam day. And his mob supports him because they also don’t have the ability to look.

It’s a pointless task when you have to LOOK for good, and it doesn’t shine out on it’s own.

He has the excuse of being a broken, self centered moron. Even his base can use that for an excuse. The power in Washington does not share the same excuse. They are clearly self centered, but not morons.

I have to say that at some point though, we all have to accept that he is a broken person. He never grew up and has never received any true consequences for his actions.

I’m as empathetic as you can get. But sometimes, you need to shoot the rabid raccoon.

That’s actually a really good point. The reason that he didn’t want his tax returns released wasn’t because he was afraid of what people would see in them, he personally has a pathological aversion to seeing what his actual wealth and income is, because he is terrified that it will not match the fantasy in his head.

Yep, that can scare anyone. My Wife and I are doing well. But if you don’t stay on top of it, it can be a shock.

Trump only hires yes men IMHO. That’s all he cares about. Someone that agrees with him. If it doesn’t line up to what his reality/fantasy is, they are gone.

This may be an unfair parallel, but I am reminded of someone else whose head was turned by the cult-like mass displays of sycophancy in North Korea and expected the same at home - Nicolae Ceausescu.
