Just how big is this carafe, and how many people do you expect to fit in there?
here ya go, ya big lug
Come on, Reeder.
I’m of the opinion that George II is a Grade A moron who has no place leading the most powerful country on earth, who has deceived his own people into a long, expensive war, and who is also doing his best to fuck the domestic economy and turn America into a Christian Right loony bin.
But with all the legitimate grievances that you might have against the Fuckwit-in-Chief, why do you choose to waste pixels, bandwidth and brainwaves on stuff as pointless and inconsequestial as this? Threads like this are the Entertainment Tonight of politics–they avoid the important issues and instead spend time focusing on trivia.
As someone else has suggested, if Bush had made frequent visits to the hospital, plenty of leftists and liberals (probably me included) would have accused him of neglecting his duties in favor of stupid photo-ops. I still think his whole aircraft carrier flight was just a piece of self-aggrandizing bullshit.
Bush’s whole presidency has been a masterpiece of PR Style over Political Substance, and threads like this that call for more Style and ignore the issues of real Substance don’t advance your cause, and just give the Apologisti something else to cackle about.
Well, Squink, you have to ask yourself…why does Reeder keep posting incorrect information? Well, the more I think about it, the less I hold with the “liar” hypothesis.
My real hypothesis is that Reeder scans Left wing websites for Bush scandals. When he sees a juicy one, he posts it here, and adds a “Bu$h Su><ors” comment. What he doesn’t do is check the comments on those left wing websites for accuracy. So in this case, someone over at, say, democraticunderground.com complained that Bush never visits the wounded, and Reeder reposted the complaint verbatim…never dreaming that inaccurate information about Bush might be posted on a hate-Bush website.
This has happened over and over and over, and Reeder NEVER seems to bother to check out his information. I guess I shouldn’t ascribe to malice what can be explained by simple, utter, granite-headed stupidity. But it’s difficult, you know?
Ah well. I believe Reeder is on a slippery slope. He’s not nearly as clever as December is about dancing and playing right on the line of acceptability. Reeder’s antics will eventually get him banned, as his lies/stupidity become more and more egregious.
It sure is sometimes, and that applies equally to Reeder and his nemesis.
Reeder, just to let you know, there’s a VA hospital in Asheville. According to mapquest, it’s 2 hours 29 minutes from you.
There’s a VA hospital in Durham. According to mapquest, it’s 1 hours 28 minutes from you.
There’s a VA hospital in Fayetteville. According to mapquest, it’s 2 hours 48 minutes from you.
But that’s not it, Reeder. There’s a VA hospital in Salisbury North Carolina. According to mapquest, it’s ZERO hours and 22 minutes from you. Twenty two minutes.
Here’s the web address if you’re interested in researching them: http://www.va.gov/sta/guide/facility.asp?ID=117
Here’s its actual address if you want to send a get well card:
Salisbury - W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center
1601 Brenner Avenue
Salisbury, NC 28144
Here’s its phone number in case you want to call a vet and brighten his or her day: (704) 638-9000
Here’s its fax number if you decide want to send a personalized greeting in black and white: (704) 638-3395
Or you can go to Washington DC. That’s 5 hours 36 minutes from you.
I hope this helps.
Oh, reeder, since you’re all bent out of shape about the Iraq War, have you donated any money to the Red Crescent Society? They really need the money.
Well, if you want to consider the conflict in Iraq as a continuation of the “war on terror,” then Bush certainly did express condolences already:
[quote]
President Bush expressed his condolences for the fallen Marines, saying the crash was a reminder of “how serious the times are today.”
“Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of the soldiers,” he said. “But I want to remind them that the cause that we are now engaged in is just and noble. The cause is freedom and this nation will not rest until we’ve achieved our objective.”
Well this is my intro thread into Reeder’s insanity. Looks like all those pit threads and pot shots I see at him all the time are warranted.
First, thank you for your service to this country. Seriously.
Your response lacks a logical base. You have effectively said: “I was wounded in service to my country so I don’t have to invest my time to care”. I don’t think you meant this so the original question is valid: what have you (someone who can truly empathize with wounded soldiers) done?
I would peg you as someone who hates Bush and has problems separating emotion from logic on subjects relating to him. I don’t think highly of Clinton so I try to take a few steps back when discussing him. This is harder to do verbally but we are using a print medium here so there is time to reflect before posting.
With that said (sorry for the lecture) I have a question to test your position: How many Presidential visits are sufficient to portray a caring attitude?
Very true.
That only action Bush could take that would not draw criticism from Reeder would be suicide. And even then…
