You love the passive voice. When you use assign agency, it turns out what you’re saying isn’t true.
Posters on this board clearly don’t ignore the non-fundy perspective. Or at least, not as a majority. This thread provides clear counterexamples.
The media don’t. The top two religious news stories of the past week or so are the ordination of a new pope (not a fundie/evangelical type) and the Episcopalian refusal to treat White South Africans as refugees.
Do the Fundies get outsized focus? Sure. But that’s a nuanced position. Blanket statements are false, obviously so when you avoid the passive voice.
I agree with this. They can’t defend their positions. And will not admit that it really is about racism, misogyny, bigoty, and homophobia.
I will defend them this >.< much though. I don’t think they understand why they feel that way. And there is no way to defend those feelings, because they don’t understand it. Those feelings have no place in a modern society, and now they are the ones that don’t fit in.
Well, look, all apologies if I’ve been doing this wrong, but: I didn’t see any point in constantly restating my positions — and I don’t believe I’ve felt any embarrassment, or some need to defend anything else the useful idiot does in his spare time from him doing the stuff that I’m in favor of.
Was I supposed to be posting that more often? A quick ‘I Have No Regrets’ once a week, or once a day, or something?
Yeah. It’s been noticeable for quite some time that the dwindling minority of people willing to even try to defend Republican/right wing positions (in places where open bigotry isn’t considered acceptable) spend a lot of time avoiding making any actual defenses. Instead they bob and weave, insisting that non-bigoted justifications for the positions of the Right must exist while never giving any.
We saw that demonstrated during the debate here and on other boards over same sex marriage, and in public as well; with the difference in the public version that they had the literal opportunity to make their case in court.
I recall reading and participating in years of arguments with people who kept insisting over and over that a non-bigoted reason to oppose SSM must exist, while refusing to even try to produce one. But it turned out? There wasn’t one.
