Put it this way: it’s a lot easier to waste someone else’s money. On the other hand, it’s also much easier to be a rational actor when dealing with someone else’s money and settling a case just to avoid the cost of litigation is usually the correct thing to do.
Also, it was one town in New York, back at the turn of the century, and it was for job of police chief. LibrarySpy made it sound as if it was SOP for cops to be picked for low intelligence.
That’s better. Don’t blame me because your first cite didn’t back up your claim sufficiently. If someone says they have a field full of blue cows but only shows me a snapshot of one blue cow, I wonder how difficult it would have been to just show me a picture of the whole herd.
It doesn’t seem that much better; pretty much all the sights I looked at were different articles about the same story, saying the same thing. I gave up after clicking on several of the results.
I have had no good experiences with them and plenty of pretty bad ones. And I am a law abiding citizen. I don’t hate “cops”, they do a tough job that must be done. Can’t say I love them, though.
Let me show you how different people of color’s experiences are: When I was 7 me and my 10 year old aunt got separated from our family in New York’s Botanical Garden in The Bronx. After wandering for what seemed like hours with my aunt comforting me as I became more and more hysterical she said, “Look, policemen. They’ll help us.”
So we walked up to them, me hysterically crying and my aunt being super brave. “Can you please help us? We live at 2010 Prospect Ave.” Let me reiterate: We were seven and ten years old. This is the answer she got “Yeah, you take the bus.” His partner thought that line was hilarious. They both yukked it up and left us there.
I did not have many positive personal experiences with policeman growing up.
Okay, so they don’t hire smart people. Little scary considering we give them infallible word, a gun, and a badge.
Heh, so I am not white, and it really is a trip to see how different the police presence is in white places. When I first moved to Minnesota I had a holy shit moment. “Wow, so the cops here just kind of mind their own business and then help people when they need it?” Odd, considering I was certain the cops’ purpose was to try to find something to arrest you for. God, one time my brother was with his friends at our own damn house and the cops came into our yard to “investigate.” Investigate what? Get off our porch, you dicks. This sort of thing did not happen in lily white Minnesota. I was like “Oh, this is why white people like cops so much.” They don’t live under constant harassment. Cops are actually there to help. Weird. Same goes in my current neighborhood that has like zero black people in it where the cops are just kind of distant but helpful when you need them. In other hoods, not so much.
P.S. My IQ is one bajillion.
