Haters gotta hate in 5… 4… 3… 2…
Point taken.
When we pulled existing threads over to the new forum we didn’t think in terms of denying someone access to threads they had started. That was never our intention.
So I have moved them back to where they were originally.
Sorry about that.
Let me be the first sycophant to say “classy move.”
Joe
There has to be a word for being this wilfully inept.
Man, why all the hate? TubaDiva politely explained that they didn’t intend to block access to the old threads. It was a simple oversight and it was quickly corrected. And yet you continue to bitch? Glad to know ya’ll are so perfect.
I dunno. I’m assuming that they didn’t make a script that automatically shuffled all threads that mentioned halloweeny topics into BOO! so someone had to go through and move them all. I don’t think it’s not asking too much for the mods to think to take into account whether the OP will be able to see their thread. And if that’s not something they’re thinking about, maybe they shouldn’t make private forums.
/presses her nose up against the monitor.
I can hear the sound of laughter and the tinkling of wine glasses.
You don’t think they are talking about us in there, do you? o.O
Only in the context of Halloween.
There also has to be a word for “oops, oh shit. Let’s fix that for ya”. I have a couple of words “no problem” “thanks” “it’s cool”. Pick one.
Thanks for moving it back.
So people are paying to be the product? Some folks either have a bizarre need to feel special or there realize another sucker born every minute.
Actually, since paying members don’t see ads, they’re paying to NOT be the product.
This statement makes no sense whatsoever.
Well, if you view the SDMB as nothing more than a medium to entice people to view ads, then yes, members pay money to not be the advertiser’s product. It’s similar to a sentiment I’ve heard expressed in regards to people, especially women getting into nightclubs for free or getting free drinks at bars: ‘if you’re not paying for the service, then you’re the product being sold.’ I dunno about the validity of it but it has a certain off the cuff charm. The biggest problem with Melon’s argument is that very few if any of the guests are not using adblockers and so they are not the product and they’re not spending money.
From the point of view of this is a messageboard where users create content that is read, added to and discussed by other users, yeah, his statement is nonsensical.
I’m not a paying member, and I don’t see ads. There are ways, you know.
No way would I pay just to see a temporary forum a few days early.
The sentiment is that users of online forums and social networking sites are product being sold to advertisers. Since paying members don’t see ads, it’s as if they’re paying not to be product. Glad I could clear that up for you.
I tried to buy a membership. Failed . The only option was to pay with something called “paypal.”.
You can use a credit card. Click paypal and you’ll see an option to use a credit card. There’s a sticky on it in ATMB.
Thank you.
Well, I was a guest who did not have adblock. But, thanks to this thread telling me about the discount, I finally ponied up and became a member.
