As the title says. Seems a bit ridiculous for a seasonal holiday forum to be taking up space, particularly since nobody can post to it anymore.
I thought we all voted unanimously that TubaDiva liked having it up there.
I would presume there are plans to use it again. Probably in October.
What about all our doper friends in the southern hemiphere who are going into the autumn season and… nevermind.
Poster #2 gave the correct answer.
I thought we dealt with this issue in November. What’s the problem now?
It’s still annoying?
I didn’t see the November discussion, so I don’t know if this has been asked, but: Can it be moved to the bottom of the page?
Putting it at the top is akin to storing your Halloween decorations right inside your front door: It’s the first thing everyone sees, but no one is enjoying it like they were at Halloween.
Yeah, it’s taking up space, and I have to move my mouse wheel one whole click to get past it!
Seconded. Sorry, missed the November discussion. Would have searched but “boo” is too short to search on and I didn’t feel like busting out my super google fu powers for this.
Actually the subforum is exactly where it’s supposed to be. It’s one line of type. And small type at that.
Cool idea. We could fill it with zombie threads.
Actually, when you open MPSIMS, you have:
“Subforums: Mundane Pointless Stuff I Must Share” (1 line)
Forum (1 line)
Boo! (1 line)
All things Halloween-y. CLOSED TO NEW POSTS. (1 line, not in particularly small type)
And then you have MPSIMS, which is what 100% of people who visit MPSIMS want to look at. Effectively the Boo forum moves the actual content of MPSIMS to about 2/3 of the way down the page, instead of 1/3 of the way down where it should be.
You seem to be really super-duper attached to the idea of having a permanent Halloween forum at the top of MPSIMS, and that’s cool, whatever. I usually surf the Dope by viewing new posts anyway (which is why it took me so long to notice this). It just looks ridiculous and it’s a small annoyance every time you load the forum.
The above is as much as I really want to say about this. I have to admit that I assumed it was just an oversight or something and am surprised to find out that someone actually wants a dead, locked forum tacked to the top of the page permanently. Then again, this is the SDMB.
I just assume that at this point it’s kept up simply because people seem to want it taken down so badly. It wasn’t a particularly good idea for a forum to begin with.
Annnnd… the answer is…
D&R
(Apologies to MsWhatsit)
Me, too. It looks silly and forlorn.
I think its rotting dead body should stay staked to the main page to serve as an example/warning to all those that cry out for temporary forums to serve their pet interests.
This year I invested in pumpkins. They’ve been going up the whole month of October and I got a feeling they’re going to peak right around January. Then bang! That’s when I’ll cash in.
I agree. What is the big deal about moving it? Start another forum for old dead forums, and move it there. Like a graveyard.
Then in deference to seniority, The Barn House ought to be up there, yes?
