I feel like Indiana Jones, searching high and low, far and wide, for Citrucel. The powder still seems plentiful, but the caplets are just so much more convenient. I had no problem getting them during the height of the pandemic, but now it seems like the light at the end of the tunnel is a train that has crushed all of my precious poop pills.
I’m having no trouble finding them, or their generics.
Most health food stores sell empty caps that you could fill with the powder until you can get the prefilled caps.
Maybe it’s just in my area (metro ATL).
Interesting. Didn’t know that. Thanks.
There was a noticeable shortage of many fiber products during the pandemic for some reason. The lack of selection led me to settling for the CVS gummies. They do the trick and I’ll probably never go back to powder or capsules.
You’re not the only one. I’ve been using VitaFusion Fiber Well Gummies for the last few years. I haven’t been able to find them for months now at either Walmart or Walgreens. Even Walgreens’ store brand is not available. I checked Amazon - I can get 4 bottles for $58 ($14.50/ea) but I don’t feel like spending $58 in one shot. They’re normally $10 at Walmart. I bought some chewable fiber tablets to try. OMG, they were so awful. They’re a little bigger than a Tums and are horribly dry. I could barely get one down, never mind the 5 or more suggested you take per day. I had to break them up and swallow them with water without chewing. It wasn’t worth it. I bought myself some prunes!
My husband drinks Metamucil powder mixed in water. I don’t know how he chokes that down. He will only use the “real sugar” variety which has been hard to come by too, but at least that eventually shows up on the shelves.
A lot of psyllium is grown in India. With how bad the pandemic has been there I bet there are all kinds of supply problems.
I buy the Walgreens psyllium fiber pills. Take 3 or 4 at night. They always have the 300 count bottles in stock.
I noted the dearth of fiber supplements in the QZ shortages thread last year. It seems to have eased where I live.
For a while I was forced to use the unflavored Metamucil powder—bleah! I mixed it with Tang to make it more palatable.
Yeah, that makes sense.
Have not been able to find them here in Chicago, either. I noticed that Amazon priced gouged them for a bit (in the $50s, like stated by another person) they used to be A LOT cheaper. Today they want down to 30 but looks like nobody actually has them. This is the weirdest thing to be out of lol But it is driving me crazy. I went and bought a couple containers of the powdered Citrucel and plan to put it in my smoothies but I MUCH prefer the caplets! Lets hope this problem ends soon!
FWIW, I think Heather’s Tummy Fiber Organic Acacia Senegal is a better product.
Carry on.
I was able to find a bottle of the Walgreens version, and that worked, but now they’re out of that too. So, I’m trying Metamucil now. They seem to be plentiful on the store shelves.
