How did you intend your post?
If I want to communicate directly to someone, I always try a PM first. Sometimes I use email if it’s in response to a thread report. (These reports come to us as emails, and it’s convenient just to respond that way, since their email address is right there in front of me.) As I said before, I tried to PM Diamonds and she had disabled it. That’s when I send the email to her. I didn’t continue the discussion in the thread, since we always try to limit disruptive conversation in a thread. I didn’t think about utilizing the infraction system, and that’s not a “policy” as far as I know, for whoever asked about that.
I am curious about something, before the usual suspects begin their fun.
A group of people are talking, when somebody approaches the group and says to one of them,
“You are bloody self-righteously condescending, and you have an unwarranted sense of superiority”
Considering it is a personal comment totally unrelated to what the group were talking about, why wouldn’t the person targeted feel insulted?
I remember when I reported a post and you wanted to contact me, you did the same. That’s when I found out I was using an old email address and you reminded me to fix it. You were polite and helpful as I’ve always seen you be on the boards. Just throwing my my two cents in about what a good job I’ve seen you consistently do. I wish they could clone your temperament to make new mods.
Most of the time I’ll send a private message if I am reaching out to someone. If I’m responding to a reported post I usually send an email. But there’s no hard and fast rule.
Feeling insulted is not the same as someone using a personal insult. I could explain in great detail how someone is acting like a dick. He may feel insulted by what I say. But as long as I don’t call him a dick it’s not a personal insult. IMHO it’s the difference between having a discussion which should be allowed and calling people names which is unproductive.
So is the criteria for starting too many threads based on the popularity of the poster? Posters seem to like grude so it doesn’t matter how many he starts. A lot of posters are annoyed by Diamonds02 so she gets told to ease up on starting threads.
So my questions are was she told to ease up because posters were reporting her threads?
Or did Ellen Cherry just decided all on her own she was starting too many threads? If so why?
Or did the mods go running around their mod loop and decide as a group she was posting too many threads? If so why?
Exactly. I feel insulted by being called a cracker but the mods have decided it is not an insult. Or at least not insulting enough to warrant a mod note or warning.
If by “running around,” you mean send some emails, then yes. I don’t know how many threads were reported (if any), but we discussed whether or not we needed to say anything to Diamonds02 and decided that a mod note was appropriate.
Thank you for the explanation.
It seems TPTB read too quick between the lines for some infraction or personal violation and then fly off the handle, and its off with the heads.
I mean if I had to spend my time reading all 9 bajillion silly threads a day I might get testy. Instead walk away, it will be okay sans TPTB for awhile.
I’m not sure “off with the heads” is a reasonable comparison to “please don’t start so many threads.”
In my opinion, calling someone “self-righteously condescending” and saying he has an “unwarranted sense of superiority” is insulting.
I really don’t see a way in which such a remark would not be intended to insult the person to whom it was addressed.
Thus I gave mhendo a warning for personal insults.
In my opinion, saying “I am not junior modding” is not an insult, therefore I did not give a warning for this.
Any further discussion of this is off-topic in this thread, which is about Diamonds02; feel free to start a new thread.
Why, thank you very much.
If a new thread is started, I won’t be posting in it-not fair to mhendo during the suspension.
This is my first read of the thread, a silly prolific but appealing to many poster gets censured. Next it has progressed to a member’s suspension. Czarcasm called a member “Pot”. Offense was returned. Then suspension on the wrong or right party? wtf? strangedays
Nah. Pretty typical twickster fuckery and the other mods circling the wagons. Happens regularly.
You’ve got that bass-ackwards. Member accused Czarcasm of junior modding, and made personal attacks against Czarcasm. Then Czarcasm responded with essentially “takes one to know one” (i.e. “Pot”).
Rest of discussion truncated due to moderator instructions.
I think Ellen’s brilliant too. And not just cause I’m about to PM her to ask for advice about a thread I wanna start
hmmmm…rarely do I post in here but I do read ATMB a lot.
This seem illogical to me. What is the posted criteria for “starting too many threads”?
Any formula? logic? guidelines? protocol?
imho…highly illogical! Punished for disobeying an ambiguous rule(?)
I have no ax in this,I’m just a bit confused…
on a side note: I was humored by the “secret exit thread”…
