So, basically, the mods decided a certain poster was annoying, and decided to punish them even though there is no actual rule saying what they did was wrong. You know, the same thing they said they couldn’t do to Snowboarder Bo, even when he admitted that his purpose was to get laughs out of how upset it made people.
I just wish the moderators on a website about fighting ignorance would moderate with logical brains instead of on emotional whims.

Ellen Cherry’s instruction was unambiguous.
The decision to tell Diamonds02 to start fewer threads was the result of a lengthy discussion by the staff based on her posting habits, by which I mean the amount of thread she starts and the content of those threads. It was not a decision undertaken on a whim.
I am a fan of (almost) all posters on the SDMB. So without reading too much into it, here is some quick statistical analysis, using **grude **as the benchmark because he/she has been mentioned as another frequent threadstarter.
Threads Started in September

Average No. of Views/Thread
grude’s Sept. threads: 1657
Diamonds02’s Sept. threads: 2048
Average No. of Responses/Thread

So, there’s a quick one month sample where my point is just, why not let the market dictate the worth of a threadstarter? If they aren’t getting responses, they’ll just fizzle away.
I’m told that many of Diamonds02’s IMHO posts were indeed reported (although I don’t think it makes much difference; if we think something is an issue we don’t have to wait for thread reports).
Yup, I remember somebody with an L name (can’t remember who, a relatively well known poster) being yelled at to tone it down on the grounds of “this board isn’t your blog.” So there is precedent.
Yes, that’s in the rules: “The board is not intended to furnish you with a forum for promoting your personal agenda. We reserve the right to ask you to limit postings on a particular topic, or to refrain from posting on such topics altogether.” I thought about quoting that section of the registration agreement, but I don’t think it’s accurate to say Diamonds02 has an agenda.

I think the question is not if farts come in different sounds, but if there is a correlation of the sounds made to the demographics of the one farting.
