Ask my sister to forward my new ATM card and credit card to me since she is in the USA and I"m in Trinidad, I just use my USA accounts. I had my mom send her a self addressed stamped envelope, throw the credit card in and seal it and throw it in a box.
Back in October '12…a month passes she still hasn’t done it claiming she is depressed, my nephew could never manage to do it either. Canceled the cards and had new ones sent to my mom now.
My mom on her on volition mailed them registered in a oversized red fancy christmas themed envelope.:smack:“I was doing something nice for you!” Well last time I can see the tracking shows NYC December 16th, took it half a month to reach there.
Cancelled a second set of cards and had them resent, told my mom to tape them on a piece of paper and put it in a normal white envelope and send them normal airmail.
She was questioning me over what “normal” and “white” mean, what kind of paper I want it taped to, is she going to get in trouble for mailing credit cards:smack: She insists she wants to put triple normal required postage, despite me telling her the envelope doesn’t need it and needs to look as normal as possible(fancy greeting card envelopes just increase the chance of postal theft).
My god what is the problem? Other people mail me letters and they get here in less than a week!
Some banks cannot cope with an international address. Usually it is a problem with the software at the bank (or the company that physically makes the card) dealing with postal codes that do not conform to US formats.
I see that Trinidad first implemented postal codes in 2012. There the postal code is a six digit number. Many American banks would choke on such a thing.
I know my US bank could not cope with the fact that my Cayman address did not have a postal code at all for many years. Now that we have postal codes which do not conform to US formatting the situation has not gotten any better.
This^, the sites usually do not even allow you to put a non-USA shipping address, although the ATM and credit cards work fine here.
At least one place where I inquired(Paypal) about shipping the card direct to me, the rep said if you reside somewhere you need a country specific paypal account and not to keep using your USA one. Needless to say the paypal.tt terms were worse than regular paypal and totally sucked, not only did they not have a card putting money on or off was very restricted to the point of uselessness.
I’ve given up on opening a local bank account, not worth it as the debit or credit cards are not accepted at online sites and the requirements to get the account are ridiculous.
:smack:You never appreciate how foreigner friendly the USA is, but it really is! Imagine if burger flipping jobs in the USA wanted to see a USA specific test score.
(Fucking O levels, I don’t got no O levels I went to high school in the USA!)
