I don’t know, but I hate the feel of shoes with socks, even sandals and bedroom slippers. They feel - slimy - for want of a better word.
You’re either buying the wrong socks or you need to see a doctor about those feet.
I worked at our local tourist trap as a teen in the 80s and this was pretty much the standard uniform for “gentlemen tourists of a certain age.” The louder-colored, the better.
I wear socks with Keens and jeans when the weather is cool but not freezing. It’s mostly because they’re easy to slip on and off. Once school is out all I wear when I’m not running or on a motorcycle is a t-shirt, shorts, and Keens or sandals.
Socks & sandals are the best way to fly.
Sandals are easy to slip off and back on in security, but I sure don’t want to walk barefoot there.
I, of course, meant to type WITHOUT socks. Opps.
Your kids are not alone.
Or any other day.
This is one of those things where it’s helpful to simply not care. I don’t go out of my way to look ridiculous but I am certainly not above wearing socks with sandals on occasion or, what is apparently another fashion faux pas these days, the dreaded cargo short.
Need a fanny pack and a baseball cap?
…
Get off my lawn you whippersnapper!
My question for people is how they wear sandals without socks. Whenever I try wearing sandals I get blisters within about 10 minutes of putting them on unless I wear socks. Do other people have calluses around the sides of their feet, is there something I’m doing wrong? Or is it just that other people are willing to suffer in agony for fashion purposes.
OP, I think you have Diabetes.
What is wrong with socks and crocs. They rhyme so well.
I wear Crocs every day and it would be horrible to go without socks. Your feet would get sweaty and you’d get a blister. Except for the ones with fur inside; it would be silly to wear socks with those.
I can do it if I don’t walk too much. Maybe another instance of fashion signaling leisure, and the lack of need to actually use your feet?
I wear cargo shorts all the time. With my sandals. Without socks on. I wear sandals so I don’t HAVE to wear socks.
You have to find the right type of sandal. I have a 10 year old pair because I cannot find another pair that doesn’t rub my feet and cause bleeding calluses.
The whole issue will have to fade away, and soon. There’s really no line between shoes and sandals any more. You can buy ‘shoes’ with lots of openings, and ‘sandals’ with a closed toe box and a heel strap.
I knew I wasn’t the only one. They should’ve never invented them, I couldn’t live without my crocs. But, I have been known to wear socks with fur lined ones too
Fashion is confusing.
However, wearing clothes/shoes in ways that defeat their purpose is incongruous and often the subject of derision.
As a basketball fan, the addition of tights under shorts/tanks tops look ridiculous to me. Shorts and tank tops are worn because basketball is a hot, sweaty sport. Why are you adding layers to this? I understand that they can have the beneficial impact of preventing injury, so I get it, but it still looks ridiculous.
Sandals are made for warm weather. Socks are for cold weather. Why are you combining these things? Again, I understand your situation, but you should understand that you’re blowing against the wind here.
I often wear shorts and sweaters, so I am also guilty of this, FWIW.
