Why is Michael Avenatti Doing All This?

He’s running.

It would be nice to see an intelligent President again.

Dear lord. I’ve been enjoying Avenatti’s battle with Cohen/Trump. I wish him well in his representation of Stormy Daniels. And I commend him for representing some of the children taken from their parents at the border. In spite of his being a loudmouth douchebag in many respects, I’ve generally been a fan. I think his intentions, and usually his results, are good, unlike Trump’s.

But, the last thing we need is another underqualified, self-important celebrity running for the presidency. We need someone who knows how government works and has demonstrated a commitment to established norms and the rule of law, not another loose cannon.

Michael, in the vanishingly unlikely event that you’re reading this, start with a lower level of canditure. Run for a state legislative office, a mayor’s office, or maybe the US House of Representatives. You grew up near where I live. Come here and run for MO-2. I’ll vote for you. Just please, not President.

Jesus. Run for House, or even Senate. Maybe a state office like Sec of State or Lieutenant Governor. But straight to President? No thanks (though I’d obviously vote for him against Trump).

Ugh. I want to go back to having boring, competent presidents.

Avenatti is intelligent, but he has no public service record. Being president is not an entry level job.

Even Obama, for all his criticisms of being inexperienced had something like a decade in community service, 8 years as a state senator and 4 years as a federal senator before becoming president.

if Avenatti wants to run for a representative seat or maybe even a senator seat (although senator is a more serious position than rep), or to run for some kind of state or local office, have at it. But not president.

These replies make me think Avenatti wouldn’t win a democratic primary.

Didn’t used to be.

Yeah, I’d vote for Avenatti over Trump, but there are a heck of a lot of folks I’d vote for ahead of him. Including a number that I haven’t even heard of yet. He’s perfectly well-placed for a run for the House of Representatives: The House is supposed to be for “ordinary citizens” who don’t necessarily have any prior political experience. If a prominent person wants to get started in elected office, the House is the place to do it.

Not that it matters anyway. He’s not running to win; he’s just running to get attention. Which is working.

A number? IMO you could grab a random person walking down the street and make him/her president and they would probably be more qualified than Trump. Seriously. (Specifically, they would be more likely to take advice from qualified people about matters about which they were ignorant.)

Of course, people said the same thing about Trump.

[Though FTR I agree with you about Avenatti.]

Yeah, for all we might enjoy Avenatti’s efforts to torment Trump, the simple fact is the guy’s a glory hound. Sure, what the hell. But he’s not serious about running, he just knows it’s August and he’ll get some national time and remind people he’s and Stormy are still out here waiting for their shot.

While this is literally true, it is perhaps best stated that your random person is likely to be less UNSUITABLE, not more qualified.

It is actually quite unlikely your random person (assuming they are American and 35 years of age or more) is more qualified; most people have essentially no relevant qualifications at all. However, most people do not have Trump’s sociopathic narcissism and egocentricity, the two things that both prevent him from taking advice and allow him to be disloyal to his country.

I just noticed this. Wow. But it can be argued that he is more qualified than Sarah Palin, Ben Carson or Whats-his-Pizza.

Just as Whats-his-Pizza ran to sell more pizza, and the orange clown with small hands ran to get better ratings for his TV show, I suppose Avenatti would run mainly for the added visibility in poking fun at Idiot-in-Chief.

Still this all reminds us what an utter farce American politics have become. Heaven help us.

Called it!

(not often I get to say that recently…)

I agree, JC. It’s not an accurate statement to say “he’s running”. He’s blabbing about thinking about running, and that might just mean he hasn’t been in the news enough lately.

Oops!

“Breaking: Michael Avenatti gives up control of law firm after he’s accused of hiding millions from bankruptcy court.”

He always struck me as somewhat shady regardless of who he was representing.

Has any man had such a rise and fall.

Avenatti no longer representing Stormy Daniels

Ahhhh, the perils of over-reaching!

It’s a good thing the porno actress no longer wishes to be associated with him. It might sully her reputation.

Regards,
Shodan

I think you should always refer to her by her full title, “the porno actress that the president of the united states raw-dogged while his 3rd wife was pregnant.” Out of respect.

I think you should refer to the President’s wife in a clearer context, as in:

“the porno actress that the president of the united states raw-dogged while his 3rd wife (who also did porn) was pregnant.”

This way, the social and working status of the two women are more equal… because they are equal.
