Why is Miller allowed to be a moderator?

What do you mean “you people”?

People without court mandated restrictions on where they can live?

For the record, I have not been reading the threads discussing the issue, so I can’t fairly evaluate the tone of Starving Artist’s posts. I will point out, however, that one is certainly able to discuss the physics and physical geometry of an alleged encounter without being prurient about the possibility of said event occurring. Apparently some people here are having a problem with that proposition. Yes, it is difficult to talk about an alleged sexual encounter without mentioning sex. Yes, trying to describe said sexual encounter and trying to evaluate the physical geometry is going to involve some discussion of things like thrusting, or relationships of organs to one another, etc. It is difficult to get around some people’s sensibilities to do so in a detached, clinical manner. And given the sensitivity of people to the nature of child sexual abuse, that challenge is even tougher. But from what I’m reading in this thread, I think that you folks are being unfair to Starving Artist. Regardless of the merits of his motivations for defending a Republican or whatever, there’s plenty of reason to wonder about things like “does the description we are given even make sense, seem physically possible?” If we were discussing a murder, for instance, we might argue about the plausibility of the knife angle from accused to the victim, the relative heights, the arm positions, etc. This is CSI:The Straight Dope. So why is it suddently squicky to have the same conversation with regards to alleged sexual abuse? Well, not with a knife, but similar questions about positioning and such.

As Miller has explained, there are rules, even in The Pit. Saying “get the fuck over yourself”, while a bit harsh, is not a violation in The Pit. Saying “Go fuck yourself” is. Those are the rules that Ed instituted. Them’s what the mods enforce. And Miller wasn’t the only one expressing that sentiment in that thread, he’s just the one who did it in the most Pitworthy terms.

And note, again, that Miller pointed out CarnalK’s rules violation but didn’t give a warning. So that’s a mighty heavy abuse of power there, not warning another poster for crossing a line.

Apparently.

The thread location is not a secret. You could easily go and have a look, and then you would be able to post something that was actually relevant to the discussion here, instead of theories about what SA might have said, in the threads you didn’t bother to read.

Okay, this is starting to get way off the original topic and is really too Pit-ty for About This Message Board.

If you have a beef with/about Starving Artist take it to the Pit.
