Why is Sunday considered Mystery Night by all the stations?

If there’s a “classic” mystery, not just a crime drama, with clues, a list of suspects, and an amateur detetctive, it seems to land on the sunday night schedule. What started that? Was it one show like Murder She Wrote or Dianosis Murder?

MacMillan and Wife, Columbo, McCloud and others all started on Sundays, I believe, as part of a “wheel” of programming under the heading of “NBC Mystery Movie.”

It had a cool intro and theme song.

It’s been years, and I’m hearing it in my head now.
